From December 11-13, Meneer Otis will host the fifth annual Storytelling Festival Nijmegen. During this festival, visitors can enjoy three days of personal stories, comedy, and music.
On the opening night, December 11th, we’ll kick-off the fifth edition of this festival with a diverse and refreshing line-up of storytellers around the theme of Celebration! With stories by Crystal Hassell, Osama Karkout, Raffi Feghali, Roxana Gavrilut and Natalino Bucci, music by Aymar Torres. Presentation by Soula Notos.
Friday, December 12th, is Purple Friday: the national day of solidarity with the rainbow community. We celebrate this with a diverse program on the freedom to experience love in your own way: Love is love! The evening begins with Can Bora’s HENNA NIGHT REIMAGINED: Unveiling the Spectrum of Self. A queer celebration of human existence, touch, and inclusivity. Then, we get ready for another edition of Queer Shorts, featuring storytellers and comedians Sytze Bouma, Bronwyn Isaac, and Joseph Kearney, hosted by Soula Notos.
On Saturday, December 13, we conclude the festival with Self-Saturday! On this day we celebrate our mental and psychological health, or in some cases lack thereof, and life itself, with three amazing performances. Başak Layiç explores the depths of madness and the Divine Feminine with her ritualistic performance Divine Madness; Who is insane? Annica Muller presents THIS IS FUCKING CHAOS, a Stand-Up Dramedy show in which she uses humor as both a remedy and a revolutionary force. Finally, Fer Rodil concludes the evening. Ever since his therapist pointed out that it was not death, but life itself he feared, Fer is on a deadline.
Vintage Sound System will make the foyer extra cozy on each day of the festival with their distinctive sound. The collaboration between Vintage Sound System and Meneer Otis has been going on for a long time, so there’s no better way to celebrate a five-year anniversary than with three DJs on three nights and delicious beats!
